awards day

Ethan has worked hard this year in first grade. He will be the first to tell you that his favorite part of school is NOT the work. He really thinks that the school day should include hours of PE and recess and little to no class work. :) Ethan has done well in all subjects. He especially loves to read. He reads for pleasure all of the time! Oh yes, that makes this teacher mama SO happy!! Of course, getting him to read his weekly stories or things related to school, not always easy. He would much prefer a good Star Wars book or a book about some type of animal. I have been so excited about his hard work with the Accelerated Reader program. Ethan was so motivated to do this because the tests for each book are on the computer. He LOVES anything on the computer! Our school also offered an incentive program for number of points earned. Ethan was very motivated to earn the prizes. Ethan was the 1st first grade student to earn getting his face on the AR Wall of Fame this school year. Ethan finished the year as not only the top AR reader in his class, but also the top first grade student!! He earned a trophy. I did not tell him he was getting a trophy at Awards Day. He was so surprised!! The expression on his face was priceless! We are so proud of his hard work! Jon Jon was so excited tat Daddy checked him out of school early so he could come see Awards Day. He brought hi coloring stuff so he could work while he watched. :)
